How it's made to help you

The main tip given to keep your strawberries from spoiling is mulching the area under the plants with either straw or woodchips. This is fine, and does work but it introduces other problems such as encouraging pests like woodlice and slugs. Which no one wants chomping on their strawberries before they get chance to eat them themselves.
