Soil blockers are tools used to create small blocks of soil for seed starting. The blocks are made by pressing soil into a mold. The soil blocks can then be planted with seeds, which germinate and grow in the soil block. Soil blockers are an easy and economical way to start plants indoors, and they also reduce the need for single-use plastic pots, trays and reduce transplant shock.

Simply water on top with a watering can, or for thirsty plants you can dip the tray in water to water from the bottom. Both work fine and we've never experienced the blocks deteriorating., Our soil blockers will work with the majority of plants, unless the seed is bigger than the block itself - such as large fruits like plums, avocados and peaches; as these are far too big for the soil block., and Peat free works fine, just avoid any that has lots of large pieces; or sieve it first. We use Durstons Organic Peat-Free Multi-Purpose Compost with water to allow the soil to compact. We add nothing else but our compost and water. All works fantastically!
